Reflection
1. In as much detail as possible record the steps it took to create this project in Adobe illustrator. Use complete sentences. Try to recall as many of the different tools, shapes, and keyboard commands as possible.
I started this project by first sketching a rough outline of what I wanted my logo to look like on a piece of paper, I first wanted to do a college-esque logo with pillars, however, I realized that logo did not represent me and the main goal of the project is to create a logo that represents you, so instead I decided to create a logo that incorporated my initials and some things which represent my hobbies and passions. I started this project in Adobe illustrator by creating a blank document that is letter-sized which is eight point five inches wide and eleven inches tall, I set the paper orientation as vertical as I wanted a tall landscape, I then set the background of the document as "white". Once I was in the document, I airdropped an image of my sketch to my computer and then imported that image into Adobe illustrator. After that I created my general shape outline for my logo which is a circle, I did this by using the ellipse tool. After that I created my initials "EC" by using the "Area Type tool" and then typing EC into the text box created from the tool, I typed it in using a custom font I downloaded from DaFont.com, I then pressed "create outline" in the properties panel to make the letters an object and not a piece of text. After I created the "E" and the "C" I made the circuit by using the pen tool to draw a circuit board and using a combination of shapes to create components on the circuit board. To create the V-8 engine I followed the same steps as I did with the circuit board except to create an engine, this also holds true for the ways I made the pencil, lightbulb, exhaust, and steam. I made the car-shaped cloud by using the ellipse tool to make many circles to outline the shape of the car to achieve a cloud-like shape and then using the rectangle tool to fill in the car's outline, after I filled in the car-shaped cloud outline with rectangles I used the "shape builder tool" to make the cloud car one singular object rather than many objects layered on top of one another, I did this by first selecting over all of the shapes, followed by selecting the "shape builder tool" and dragging my cursor over all of the shapes to merge them. Once I finished designing my logo, I downloaded the file on Google Classroom called "Roland VersaWorks Ai" and went back into Adobe illustrator where I created a slightly bigger circle than the original one I made using the ellipse tool and then changed the fill of the new circle to Roland VersaWorks Ai pink, and then I clicked the switch colors icon to switch the stroke color to Roland VersaWorks Ai, I then changed the fill fo the ellipse to transparent and moved the layer which the ellipse was on to the bottom so it would go behind my logo. Finally, I exported my logo first as a PDF file and then as a PNG file without the pink outline.
2. What is a cut line? Why is it important to add when making t-shirt designs, stickers, etc.
A cut line is a outline which is used by a printer to distinguish between what has to be printed and what has to be cut out, it is important to add a cut line when making t-shirts designs, and stickers because it allows a digital printer to distinguish between normal texts or images printed on paper and logos or text that will be separated from the paper it was printed on.
3. What is branding? How can you use it to market yourself when looking for a job?
Branding is the promotion of a certain company, group, or person and ties said company or individuals to the products and assets which it's branding is present in. You can use branding to market yourself by having your brand represent good qualities about yourself and become recognizable through your work.
4. Based on the learning target, (Exceeds, Meets, Needs Work, minimal understanding). What level of mastery do you think your project demonstrates? Why do you think so? Make sure to provide specific evidence.
Based on the learning target, I think my project demonstrates "meeting the learning target" because it meets all of the requirements of the project which were to use text to design, include images in the design, and apply color to the design, however I feel that my project lacks that complexity and personality to demonstrate "exceeding the learning target". For this reason I think my project demonstrates "meeting the learning target"
