Reflection
The overall strengths of my project were that I was able to capture all lighting patterns and edited all the photographs. The improvements that could be made to my project is that more editing could have been done to the photographs as I did not do any complex editing to them and the butterfly photograph could been done in a better lighting angle to more accurately represent that lighting pattern. What I learned about lighting patterns is the different types of lighting patterns, as before this project, I did not know of any lighting patterns. Photographing an egg prepared me for photographing a classmate by teaching me where to properly direct the light around the subject in order to achieve a certain type of lighting. The way in which photographing an egg was similar to photographing a classmate was that both used the same lighting angles for the desired type of lighting. The way in which photographing an egg was different from photographing a classmate was that an egg lacks facial features, so shadows do not cast upon the front of the egg whereas, for a classmate depending on the angle of the light, there were small areas where certain shadows were cast unlike with the egg. Lighting is important for a photographer to understand because it adds emotion and depth to a photograph, for example the rembrandt lighting makes the subject look elegant and focused, while the split lighting makes the subject look anguished and serious. I will incorporate lighting in my photography in the future by using it to achieve certain emotions within my photographs.
