Reflection
Flat Lay photography is a style of photography that is shot at a top down/bird’s eye view and uses objects and their positioning to tell a story or narrative. For my flat lay, I chose a cooking/food theme because over the summer, my mom taught me how to cook and I really enjoyed cooking with her. Another reason why I chose cooking as my theme for my flat lay was because I had a lot of items in my kitchen that were of similar colors and sizing. To me these objects are very significant to me because they represent the passion I have for cooking which is something me and my mom do together. My photoshoot was somewhat successful because I was able to take five different photos of my objects and each of those photos were of a different arrangement, however, there were some empty spaces in some of the arrangements of the items and could have improved with more items or equal spacing. Next time I would add more items to my flat lay like cooked food rather than canned food, so I could have conveyed the narrative of learning how to cook, better with my flat lay photograph.
